The Clubhouse: A Fresh New Look
The first thing EA introduces in the Deep Dive is the Clubhouse. Essentially, this is an updated UI for Clubs, and let me tell you, it looks pretty sleek. The visuals are an upgrade from previous years, giving off a more modern and polished vibe. What stands out the most to me is the ability to see your virtual pros in the locker room alongside your online clubmates. Whether they’re gearing up for a match or fine-tuning their player builds, you’ll be able to see exactly what they’re up to in real time. This adds a layer of immersion that we haven’t seen in Clubs before.
Another addition to the Clubhouse is the Quick Navigation menu, which will make switching between different menu screens a breeze. If you’ve played Ultimate Team in FC 24, this will feel familiar. It’s a small but significant change that’s going to save a lot of time and make navigating the interface much smoother.
Lastly, we have Clubhouse Customization. This is a new feature that lets you change the look of your Clubhouse based on your club’s crest, kit, and stadium bundle. It’s a cool addition that gives you more control over your club’s identity. It’s nothing revolutionary, but it’s a nice touch that adds more depth to the Club’s experience.
Rush: The New 5v5 Game Mode
Next up is Rush, the new 5v5 game mode being added to Clubs, Ultimate Team, Career Mode, and Kick-Off. I’m genuinely excited about this one—it looks like a ton of fun. Rush is similar to the 11v11 drop-ins we’ve had in the past but with a smaller, faster-paced format. You can play solo or with friends, and if you go solo, the game will match you up with other random players, just like drop-ins.
One of the coolest aspects of Rush is its individual ranking system. The better you perform, the higher your rank, and with a higher rank comes better rewards, like cosmetics for your player. This adds a competitive edge to the mode, making it more than just a casual experience. There’s also the Club Victory Points (VP) system, where every match won in Rush contributes to your club’s global leaderboard ranking. The more VP your club accumulates, the higher it climbs, unlocking rewards for both the club and its players. Even if your clubmates aren’t online, you can still contribute to your club’s success by playing Rush.
Facilities: A Game-Changing Addition
One of the most exciting changes coming to FC 25 Clubs is the introduction of Facilities. According to EA, the goal here is to make managing your club feel more impactful and authentic. Facilities allow your club to grow in new and meaningful ways by developing resources that benefit all clubmates.
Facilities can be upgraded from a one-star to a three-star rating, with each level enhancing two attributes for all clubmates. The higher the star rating, the greater the attribute boosts, and at three stars, facilities can even unlock Play Styles or Play Styles Plus for your team. This opens up the potential for a seventh Play Style or a third Play Style Plus on your pro, which could be a game-changer in competitive play.
One thing to note, though, is that these enhancements only apply to player-controlled clubmates, not AI-controlled ones. This could put teams with more AI players at a disadvantage, especially in league, playoff, and friendly matches. It’s a bit of a bummer for teams that rely on AI, but I get why EA made this choice—it’s all about rewarding teamwork and coordination among real players.
The list of three-star facility upgrades is extensive, but I’m not going to go into all of them here. I’m sure I’ll make a dedicated video about facilities once FC 25 drops. The most popular upgrades will likely be those that boost pace, dribbling, and stamina, but it’s going to depend on your team’s build and playstyle. Strategizing around facilities is going to add a new layer of depth to Clubs, and it might even change how you approach building your pro.
Your club will have a Facilities budget that increases as you grow your club’s reputation through league and playoff matches. Managers will be responsible for deciding which facilities to equip, and these can be swapped out whenever you like. I think Facilities is one of the best new features in FC 25 Clubs, and I’m excited to see how it plays out.
Tactics: A New System with FCI IQ
EA is introducing a new tactic system in FC 25 called FCI IQ. This system will be present across all game modes, but what’s interesting for Clubs is the ability to see the instructions set by your manager for each position right in the lobby screen. This is a great addition that will help with team coordination and strategy, especially for clubs that take their tactics seriously.
Relegation Returns: A Fan-Favorite Feature
Relegation is making a comeback in FC 25 Clubs, and I know a lot of you will be happy about this. Not having relegation in FC 24 was one of the biggest complaints, and EA has listened. The new relegation system will give your club a certain number of chances when entering a new division. Each match loss will cost you a chance, and once you run out, you’ll be thrown into a one-off relegation match where you need to either win or tie to stay in your current division. I didn’t care too much about the lack of relegation, but I understand why it’s important to a lot of players. It adds stakes to each match and makes the climb to higher divisions feel more rewarding.
Cosmetics and Customization: Cranium Technology and More
Customization has always been a big part of the Club’s experience, and FC 25 is stepping it up with the introduction of Cranium technology. This new tech will improve the way you can edit your player’s head and face, making those pro lookalikes even more realistic. There’s also a bunch of new cosmetics for your pro, including hairstyles, headwear, facial hair, tattoos, boots, facial accessories, gloves, and arm sleeves. Arm sleeves are a first for Clubs, and I’m excited to see how they look on players like Allan Saint-Maximin and Paul Pogba. It’s a small detail, but it adds to the overall customization experience.
Community-Requested Features: Listening to the Fans
EA has also included some community-requested features in FC 25 Clubs. Quick Chat is being added to both 11v11 and 5v5, allowing you to communicate more effectively with your teammates. If quick chat gets annoying, you can always turn it off in the settings. They’ve also updated the traditional call-for-pass icon to show short text messages indicating which input you’re pressing, like “through” for a through ball or “cross” for a cross.
There are more goalkeeper play styles, which is great news for the small but dedicated group of keepers out there. They’ve also increased the post-match timer, which is something I’ve been waiting for. Now, you’ll have more time to watch replays at the end of a match.
Matchmaking and Other Changes
Finally, EA has made some changes to matchmaking. League matches will now prioritize matching you with a team of similar skill ratings, while playoff matches will focus on your division. They’ve also decreased the max height in Clubs from 6’7” to 6’5”, which might help reduce cross spamming, but I’m not sure it’ll be enough to make a big difference unless crossing itself gets nerfed.
