Many players may think of Magic as a click-intensive skill that requires a lot of expensive Runes. However, if you’re using the most efficient training method, it’s quite easy to reach the desired levels.
Today, we’ll be showing you some of the best preferred OSRS Magic training methods, along with a few AFK ways for players who multitask.
Magic Levelling Quests
There are a couple of quests that you can complete on your journey to 99. These quests offer a good amount of experience. Please note that Lunar Diplomacy, Desert Treasure, and Dream Mentor are the most recommended ones on the list. Also, the quest ‘Horror from the Deep’ unlocks the Book of Darkness that grants +5 Magic and +5 Prayer Attack bonus.
Desert Treasure requires 50 Magic and grants 20,000 Magic Exp. Dream Mentor requires 65 Magic and grants 10,000 Magic Exp. Watch Tower requires 15 Magic and grants 15,250 Magic Exp. Lunar Diplomacy requires 65 Magic and grants 5,000 Magic Exp.
Meanwhile, quests like Horror from the Deep, The Grand Tree, Imp Catches, and Witch’s Potion has no Magic level requirements, and it grants 4,662 | 2,150 | 875 | 325 Magic Exp, respectively.
1 to 99 F2P Method
The free version of the game has limited spells and availability of equipment, but you can still achieve the desired levels if you’re diligent enough. Here’s how.
Level 1 to 29+
If you’re starting out with basic strike spells, you need to get yourself a Wizard’s Hat, Robe Top, Zamorak Robe, Amulter of Magic, and an Elemental Staff. It’s basically your best choice for Magic Accuracy as a F2P player.
Level 29 to 43 or 55
A fast and cheap method to train until you unlock High-level Alchemy is the Curse spell. Equip a complete armor set with either a Cursed Goblin Staff or Dragonhide Vambraces. The reason? Well, to splash every spell cast. You’ll get about 29,000+ Magic exp every hour.
Level 13 to 37+
A good profitable way as a F2P player is killing Ogresses, who are fragile to Magic attacks. There are several safe spots in the cave so you can even kill them at a very low level; however, use Fire Strike or Fire Bolt attacks. It’s a good method where you can make about 100k per hour.
Level 55 to 99
Curse Alching is similar to Stun Alching, but with a lower-level curse minus the use of multiple elemental staves. You need to equip a complete armor set with Dragonhide Vambraces (green). You also need to use High-Level Alchemy between your casts. Yes, it is click-intensive, but you get better with practice.
Level 55+
Finally, one of the trending locations in the F2P world is the Zamorak Wine spawn area. There’s a lot of downtime with the banking and waiting, but while that happens, you can always High-Alch on noted items in your inventory. It’s worth noting that you can make about 200k per hour through this method.
1 to 99 P2P Method
Now, with membership, you have a lot more options to choose from. The quickest methods are the most expensive ones, while passive training is more profitable. So, you may choose according to what fits best.
Level 1 to 37
To start, you’ll need an Air Staff to cast Air Strike. Alternatively, you can complete Witch’s Potion and Imp Catches to straightaway get to level 10 magic.
Moving on, you can use a Magic Potion to utilize Fire Strike and cover the low-level spells, while also making money by safe-spotting Blue Dragons, Giants, etc. We suggest you either splash in complete armor or target monsters with low-base defense.
Level 37 to 43 or 55
With about 100 OSRS Gold per cast, Fire Bolt is a better and more expensive version of Fire Strike. You can combine the spell with Chaos Gauntlets (Family Crest quest) to increase the max damage by 3 points. It’s a cost-efficient spell on profitable monsters like Steel Dragons.
Level 43 to 55+
An alternative method to 55 would be Superheat Items, which also gives Smithing Exp. You can get about 80k experience per hour. The only downside is that you have to purchase ores and runes from the Grand Exchange, which means that you’ll be at a slight loss while using Superheat. You could always mine your own ores and superheat alongside them.
Level 45 to 55
Another efficient and alternative method to reach level 55 is Camelot Teleport, which only requires an Air Staff and 1 Law Rune. You only have to spam-click the teleportation tab. This will get you about 80k experience per hour.
Level 55 to 99
The method to turn items into Runescape Gold with every cast. Yes, we’re talking about High-Alchemy. You do need to invest a lot into the item cost and Nature Runes. The upside is that the F2P wiki hosts an updated list of profitable items to alchemize.
Another plus point is that you can use this spell when training other skills. For instance, one of the most popular ways is to train agility while casting High-Alchemy during your runs. Alternatively, you can do it while training slayer.
Level 70 to 99
The best spot to use Ice Spells like Barrage and Ice Burst would be the caves filled with maniacal Monkeys (Monkey Madness 2). Run northeast and stack the monkeys by running to the corner between hits. You’ll get better with practice.
Ice Burst can get you around 300k experience per hour, while Ice Barrage can get you about 400k Magic experience per hour. However, each spell cast would cost 860 OSRSGP and 1,500 OSRSGold, respectively.
You can easily sustain your trip as these monkeys drop 1-dose Prayer Potions. If you use Dragonbone Necklace with the auto-burying feature (Bone Crusher), your Prayer will generate with every kill.
Level 37+
OSRS Nightmare Zone is mostly preferred for training Melee or Ranged because of the cost of Runes. But with the right setup, it’s worth a shot.
You need to use Fire Bolt with Chaos Gauntlets (Family Crest quest) and Mystic Robes or Void equipment. Also, do stock on Absorption Potions as they’re cheaper than protection prayers. You can get about 40k experience per hour through this method.
Level 80+
Spells like String Jewelry and Plank Make allow players to string amulets without a ball of wool and make plank from logs without any machinery. You can semi-AFK while performing these spells and get about 140k and 160k Magic experience per hour, respectively. It’s also profitable depending on the supplies you use.
Level 13+
Finally, the easiest method on OSRS is SPLASHING! It is however the slowest route to train your Magic skill. You can start by equipping a complete armor set, along with Dragonhide Vambraces, any metal boots, and a Smoke battle staff. Please note that you should only approach low-level monsters like Rats or Chickens so that you can easily train without dealing damage.
